The position of an
artist is a humble one. He is nothing but a
channel.
Piet Mondrian
A sculpture, specifically made for a
particular person, is intended to be an
object of great support, along the lines of
a power object. I always sense that, for the
individual involved, there is something
essential and meaningful within the
sculpture that touches his or her heart.
I do not plan a sculpture. If I followed a
planned and analytical approach - even with
all my psychological and therapeutic
knowledge – the resulting sculpture would be
entirely different. Rather, I work
intuitively out of the emptiness, not
knowing where it will lead me, but devoted
to something that is wiser and greater than
myself.
Before beginning, the general specifications
of size, price, preferences of wood or stone,
are discussed and settled. It is also
important for me to understand something of
the client´ s particular motivation or
intention, if this exists.
With all this in mind, I meditate to attune
with my client. I free myself from any
conceptions or imaginings of right and wrong
and simply allow myself to be led. I work on
the sculpture with the intention of
supporting this special individual in the
best possible way. I deeply appreciate how
much my clients trust me and trust life
itself.
