Art is not a luxury, but a necessity.
Lyonel Feininger
I was 38 years old when, in 1993, I first
started sculpting. I had always loved art in
its various forms, but had not viewed myself
as one of those who made it. Up to that
point my interest in the human soul had been
focused rather on social educational work
with children and their families, and on my
own engagement in therapeutic development
and training and self-experience courses.
I first encountered with shamanism when I
was in my late twenties, and, through this,
an awareness of the NON-VISIBLE realm. I
became very passionate about the development
of human consciousness.
A deep longing grew within me to find my own
unique expression in life. This culminated
in the art of sculpting. With the support of
Otto Richter, my former spiritual teacher, I
took the risk and began “doing something
with my hands”. My first sculpture seemed to
emerge virtually out of nothing, and I grew
to love this way of creating so deeply that
I no longer wanted to live without it.
